Joseph is a dynamic professional noted for developing, influencing, and implementing innovative strategies and leading large-scale business turnaround situations across a range of organizations from global multinationals to start-up ventures. He is recognized for his powerful ability to improve performance, reduce costs, and transform under-performing organizations and has supported various businesses in achieving a competitive advantage through digital transformation and implementing cyber security on a global scale. Key Deliverables and Achievemets

  • Advising & Influencing at Board Level: Supported and guided the Gifts-in-Kind International board in scaling up their internal IT aspects to encourage and facilitate future growth. Also advised the BlueCoat Executive Advisory Board on product development plans to deliver improvements.
  • Security Risk & Cyber Defense: Implemented a new Group Security Function which defended Atos and their customers against malicious global attacks and threats including WannaCry, Fancy Bear, Panda Bear, Petya, NotPetya and other Advanced Persistent Threats.
  • Business Turnaround: As the COO/CTO in Residence for McKinsey & Company, led the stabilization and turnaround of a telecommunications service start-up within a 12-month period by revamping the company’s managed network services, provisioning, service and attendance, usage monitoring, and billing.
  • Strategic Development: Designed and implemented the IT operations performance and business value turnaround strategy for Global Shared IT Services within Novartis, achieving significant annual cost efficiencies, improvements in capabilities delivery, and operational effectiveness.
  • Performance Improvement: Achieved the highest levels of IT operations performance and stability in the history of Philips and increased customer/user satisfaction from a NPS score of under 5.8 to a score of 9. Also improved the performance of the Philips IT Project Portfolio by over 70%, ensuring all projects delivered on scope, on time, and under targeted costs.
  • Global Governance & Compliance: Developed and implemented a global governance framework for Atos as SVP and Chief Security Officer. Also oversaw GDPR (EU General Data Protection Regulation) compliance operations.
  • Independent Management Consulting: As an independent consultant, clients included top management consulting firms, Fortune-ranked corporations, several leading enterprise software firms, Federal and State Government Agencies, and a nationally ranked university.
  • Cost Reduction: Successfully and sustainably reduced annual IT operating costs by 40% at Philips.


Mr. Norton’s most recent positions were as Chief Security Officer & Head of Group Security and Chief Customer Satisfaction Officer & Head of Group Quality at Atos (www.atos.net).

Mr. Norton is a veteran of the United States Navy. 


He obtained a B.S. in Information Management Systems from Empire State College of the State University of New York, and a MBA from the College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. 


Mr. Norton’s professional affiliations have included United States Naval Institute, Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).  He has been certified as a Project Management Professional (PMP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is a past Vice President for Education and Member of the PMI Chicago Executive Committee
